Although Scanpan's impressive craftsmanship ensures that its glass lids are as durable as possible, they aren't bulletproof. If you should drop your original on the ceramic tile floor and break it, this replacement will restore the look and performance of your cookware. Made to fit the Scanpan Classic Ceramic Titanium series, the piece is made of heat-tempered glass with a smooth, rounded profile. The heat-resistant phenolic knob stays cool on the stovetop to avoid burnt fingers, and the lid washes up easily by hand or in the dishwasher. Varying sizes are available to fit all lidded Scanpan Classic pans, and all are made in Denmark. --Emily Bedard

By Andrew Sweet
This lid is listed as an accessory for the Scanpan Classic 9.5" fry pan, but I bought it to go with the 9.5" fry pan from the Scanpan Professional line and it fits perfectly. The glass is solid and Pyrex branded, with three slight bumps equidistant around the circumference of the rim, to keep the edge raised a bit, allowing steam to escape. Some assembly is required as the handle is a six-piece affair of plastic, silicone and stainless steel that takes two minutes or less to put together (the instructions are on the clear plastic bag the parts come in, so be careful when opening it). I ordered this from Amazon and felt lucky that it arrived intact... the packaging did not seem terribly secure for a breakable item like this. Before I opened it I was very worried it was broken, because the parts bag was rattling around inside and hitting the glass, making an unhappy sound. Thankfully the lid was unblemished. A bit on the pricey side, but exactly what I was looking for.

Most think I am nusts for paying nearly $35 for a frying pan lid. But this lid sure keeps the heat and oils off of the stove.

I have had Scanpan pots and pans for over 25 years. About every 5 years I break one by dropping it. The new replacementt lid now has a metal ring around the outer edge that makes it more attractive and perhaps less prone to breakage. It even fits better.
